I know that the older DS games can be played but the newer DSi games are regionally locked.
Is there a way to reformat or change the firmware with the US version?

2. The card has in it`s root level the following:
_ak2 (folder)
ak2ifw_update_14_DSi.nds
akmenu4.nds
3. The 4GB micro SD card is formatted to fat 32
4. the AK2i icon that appears in the DSi menu has written on it the following:
"AK start" ( there is no image on the icon other than that)
5. I have no access to a DSL, but if someone tells me this is something that will solve my problem somehow and will allow my DSi to function,
I will be obliged to try and do strange things in order to get one for a short while.
6. I have contacted the seller smartDSI.com but have so far got no conclusive answer.
7. Language is set to English.

Does anyone have any idea how to get out of this situation ?

Each of my kids have a DSi. It appears that the one's game cards all have abnormal contact wear - the copper seems to be wearing off, revealing the PC board material underneath - while the other's does not.
